This is a new HBO series that started Sunday based on Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse series. The books are great and I was hoping the show would be too. When I heard Anna Paquin was cast as Sookie I was a little concern. But Charlaine seemed happy with the adaptation when she talked at Malice Domestic so I figured I would reserve judgement. And of course, Alan Ball was producing it, so I had faith in him - Six Feet Under was a great show.
And so I watched it. And was very pleased. It is very interesting watching the mistrust and suspicions of the townspeople of their first vampire visit. There is lots of humor and her friend Tara is just great. Anna does not quite play Sookie how I saw her in my mind, a little more naive than I thought, But I still liked her.
I am glad this is on cable so it doesnt have to be toned down too much. I think they really did a good job and look and feel to it.
